Katie and Marco opted for a traditional Chinese wedding. Their formal ceremony took place in the True Jesus Church in Newcastle, afterwards heading over to Jesmond Dene for a few pictures with the waterfall. Later, their guests joined us back at the bride’s family home for the traditional tea ceremony, then on to the groom’s for the same. How Do You Do in South Shields was ideal for an informal evening do (sadly still no dancing allowed yet) to enjoy a few drinks with friends - and some cake of course!

Ouseburn - Josie and Kelvin's 2020 lockdown wedding
Back in 2019, Josie and Kelvin booked us to photograph their August 2020 wedding at the True Jesus Church in Newcastle. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, they had to reduce their numbers and the duration of the day to fall in line with the restrictions at the time. Being a part of such a tight-knit community that treat their friends like family, it was almost impossible for them to get down to the maximum number of 30 guests. Somehow, they did manage it, but sadly, there was no room left for photographers. Instead, we met them outside the church for a few socially distanced family photos, and a walk down to Ouseburn afterwards.
A few of our couples have asked how we organise socially distanced family photos, so I’ve included some so you can see. They take a little longer than normal, but they are easy enough to do, and actually, I quite like the different placements of the family groups.
Wynyard Hall - Kayleigh and Jordan
Not only are Kayleigh and Jordan wonderful people but their kindness and joyful enthusiasm show in everything they do. It was a joy to work with them for their wedding day at Wynyard Hall in the summer.
It was great to be back at the True Jesus Church in Newcastle for their wedding ceremony, and wonderful to see so many familiar faces once again. As Kayleigh and Jordan left the church after their beautiful wedding ceremony, confetti flew and smiles were all over the show! They chose the magnificent Wynyard Hall for their wedding reception, where a true to form typical British summers day, the overcast weather didn’t stop everyone from getting outside. We had great fun with Kayleigh and Jordan exploring the grounds and woodlands before heading back inside for food in the conservatory, along with some great speeches. Fun and games in the evening do followed an emotional tea ceremony and a fantastic first dance by Kayleigh and Jordan.

Chinese wedding at Matfen Hall - Fiona and Rico
We are no strangers to photographing Chinese weddings in Newcastle. Over the years we have had the joy of attending and photographing countless Chinese weddings for local couples, and we have had the pleasure in creating long lasting friendships within the Newcastle Chinese community. We know and understand the traditional Chinese wedding customs, the fast paced fun of the day and we know that they are never the same twice.
Fiona and Rico’s big day was one such wedding. It was a feast for the eyes, Chinese wedding customs were combined with English wedding traditions resulting a multifaceted wedding day of fun and silliness, emotion and sincerity, elegance and romance.
The day started at Fiona’s family home. Inside, the ladies were busy getting ready, while outside, the street filled with family and friends, waiting for the boys to arrive. Moments after stepping out of the car, Rico was presented with a series of tasks set by the bridesmaids before being allowed entry into the house to collect his bride. The boys really got stuck into the challenges and luckily, they suitably impressed the girls. Once allowed inside, they all took part in the traditional tea ceremony before heading over to Rico’s parents home to perform the same ceremony with his family.
Later in the day, everyone poured over to Matfen Hall in Northumberland for their elegant and very English wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast.
